Upload data
Once your project is created, the next step is to upload your survey data. The R3M platform requires your data in a specific Excel format to ensure accurate processing and analysis.
Step 1: Go to the data tab
- Open your project from the My Projects list.
- Navigate to the DATA tab.
Step 2: Prepare your data file
Your data file must be in Excel format (.xlsx) and follow these guidelines:
- One single tab per file (no multi-sheet workbooks).
- No duplicates: Each row should represent a unique participant x stimulus pair.
- Required columns:
- A: Participant identifier (numeric, no formulas)
- B: Participant weighting (numeric; use 1 if not using custom weights)
- C: Stimulus identifier (clear, explicit name for each stimulus)
- D, E, F: The three R3M words (mandatory; no empty or invalid entries)
- Optional columns:
- G–AT: Up to 40 filter columns (e.g., demographics, product characteristics, evaluation criteria).
- Ensure filter column headers are descriptive (e.g., "Gender" instead of "Filter 1").
- All filter columns must be fully filled; use "na" if no data for a respondent.
- G–AT: Up to 40 filter columns (e.g., demographics, product characteristics, evaluation criteria).
tip
Clean your file before uploading: remove empty or invalid words, and check for duplicate participant-stimulus pairs. All three R3M word columns must be filled for each row.
Step 3: Upload the data file
- Drag and drop your Excel file into the upload area in the DATA tab.
tip
For multi-sequence projects (e.g., multiple countries or waves), upload one file per sequence. Ensure all files use the same structure and filter labels.
Step 4: Verify and save
- The platform will check your file for format compliance and data integrity.
- If any issues are detected (e.g., missing words, duplicates, empty cells), you will be notified to correct and re-upload the file.
Once your data is successfully uploaded and validated, you are ready to start your project analysis.
